Each year, as part of the Association’s contribution to the banding movement, support is offered to selected projects. Last year’s focus was on Brass Band Aid, where the Association provided a significant donation to the charity and supported its ongoing growth with a prize draw and allocated space at each of its tradeshows. This year a number of smaller projects will benefit from the Association’s assistance. Brighouse Hymn Tune and March Contest The first project
supported by the Association was the Brighouse
Hymn Tune and March Contest which was recently organised by
Kirklees Music in their hometown of Brighouse.
To help promote youth and music, the members of the Association
of Band Traders agreed to sponsor the youth section of the competition
and donate financial gifts in recognition of the hard work involved in
bringing a youth band to competition standard. Brass
Band Aid - 2006/07
2006 has seen the Association adopt Brass Band Aid as one of their chosen charities and at the Butlins Mineworkers Brass Band Festival they raised £750 for the charity through a special prize draw. The winner, Mr R Whitehead will enjoy a complimentary Gold Level apartment at next year's event!
