Boobs 4 Brass Charity -
Butlins Mineworkers Contest 2010 This coming year sees the collaboration of the Boobs & Brass Band, the all female brass band, and The Association of Band Traders, to raise the awareness of breast cancer and to continue to raise much needed funds for the breast cancer campaign. To date, Boobs & Brass Band have raised over £33,000 for charity, no mean achievement! To build on this fund-raising achievement, the “Brass 4 Boobs” campaign will culminate with a 'Boob Blow' which will be on Saturday 23rd January 2010 in Skegness at the Butlins Mineworkers Open Brass Band Festival, at 7.00 pm. This is open to all female players who wish to have some banding fun whilst helping to support this worthy charity that is close to so many people's hearts. To become part of this all female activity please download the registration form, complete and send it with the very modest registration fee of £2.50 (cheques, postal orders etc. should be made payable to BOOBS & BRASS) to either a Boobs & Brass Band representative or to the contact address indicated on the registration form. Further information about the Brass and Boobs Band and this charitable event can be found at www.boobsandbrass.com. |

Look for Association of Band Traders A brand new promotional stand was located in the newly established 'Tradstand Village', displaying the striking new logo and was on display throughout the weekend with information leaflets being circulated to all the visiting bandspeople and guests. The flyers helped to demonstrate the many ways in which the Association of Band Traders is involved with supporting brass band associated charities and how its members target their efforts in fund-raising for these. The focal point was the previous year's charity, which raised funds for The Brass Band Archive to secure the creation and maintenance of a website. This important tool to promote awareness of the charity's work has now been well established and has enabled banders from all over the world to connect and enjoy an historical collection of brass band memorabilia, music and recordings. |

Faces Change Roles Following many years in this capacity, David Horsfield took the decision to relinquish the position due to the pressures of his many other commitments. The Association is extremely grateful for all his time and work over the years and marked their appreciation with a formal presentation. After a successful year in the role of Secretary, Clair Tomalin handed the position back to Jon Handley, of TOR Designs and Handley Band Uniforms to enable her to honour her work commitments in developing the music publishing business of The Music Company (UK) Ltd. Clair had originally taken on the role to relieve Jon of the time commitment this position demands enabling him to concentrate on his own business relocation. Jon also continues his role as Tradeshow Manager, coordinating the various events at which the Association of Band Traders appear. [See Events Diary] |
